Like most people who have wanted to get properly fit, I’ve tried all the usual methods and then some. You know, gym membership, personal trainer, running, cycling, swimming, squash, tennis and tiddlywinks!
In short – I’ve had very moderate success with my aforementioned methods. The difference with the Jango formula is it actually works and produces very quick results. Now, don’t be disheartened by that phrase “quick results”. I’m sure you’ve heard that losing weight quickly isn’t the way to do it, as you will put it back on quickly as well, which is perfectly true if after your initial success you suddenly decide to abandon your newly found healthy eating lifestyle and go back to eating cakes for breakfast. The truth be told, it doesn’t matter what stage you are at with your weight loss & fitness….even after 2 years, if you eat more cakes than carrots, you will get fat again!! I know, I’ve been there!
That then folks is where the Jango formula differs from everything else I’ve ever tried.
Let me expand further and explain why!
When you join any Gym, they go through a nice induction, ask you what you want to achieve and spend an hour or so showing you how to use the equipment and doing a plan that’s specific to what you want to achieve. Very nice, and for that first session or so you’re pretty keen.
However, after a few weeks the novelty wears off, you go less and less or for shorter sessions.
Now, unless you’re “the” most self motivated person in the world (when I say self motivated, I’m talking marine style motivation), then it’s the easiest thing for that little voice in your head to say, “I’ll go tomorrow”, or, “I’m to tired”, or, ”blah blah blah excuse after excuse after excuse”! But you leave the membership direct debit active…..just in case! A few months go by, which then turn into several months, and before you know it you’re several quid out of pocket! Yes, you may have been again for the odd session, but my point is that initial enthusiasm wore off pretty quickly and thus that odd session has turned out to be darned expensive. Now the reason you left the DD in place was purely psychological in the first place (just to make you feel better, convincing yourself that you’re a member of a gym - “YEAH!”, giving you that nice warm fuzzy feel good factor….which is great if that’s all you want, but a warm shower will have the same effect, or I could suggest some DVD’s to watch – both will cost you an awful lot less as well!) – and those crafty gym membership people know that as well! The fact is that gyms thrive on unused gym memberships….it’s their bread n butter!
Your typical gym doesn’t have motivation on tap either. Once you’ve had that initial induction then you are pretty much left to your own devices. Yes you can do other classes with an instructor, but it’s either more expense or the top brass full gym membership!
But the most important #1 factor in all this, which I have only learned since attending Jango’s Bootcamp, is that eating right and sticking to a healthy eating plan is THE most important thing to do! Over the past few months, from the links and information that Jango has emailed his members, one quote has popped up over and over again, and that is "bodies are made in the kitchen and not the gym!"
Now, notice I’ve said “healthy eating plan” and not used the word “diet”! From what I’ve learnt since joining Bootcamp, a healthy eating plan is a way of changing the way you view food and adopting and adapting it into your lifestyle until it forms a habit. A diet suggests a short term change in eating, whereby as soon as your diet finishes, then the old habits flood back in and your weight goes back on, thus making you feel even worse and more deflated than you were before.
The diet industry is worth an absolute fortune on which those naughty gurus who push pills and potions also thrive on mass failure! Wouldn’t be much of an industry if it made everyone thin would it? Be no fat people left to part with their money! And that’s what the word “diet” now means to me – “failure”! Now, whenever I see anything with the word diet on it, I give it a wide birth……..diet = failure!

Seeing the grim reality of a size 20 body and weighing 14st 7lbs on Christmas Day 2010 made me take the decision to try and lose weight and get fit.
Did I really expect just over 10 months later to have lost just over 4st and be wearing size 10/12 clothes – probably not!!
Boxing Day saw me start to try and eat healthy and endeavour to do some exercise – if you can count fitness training on the Wii as exercise!!
After a couple of weeks I decided to start trying to run! Helped by the fact that I’d been somehow encouraged by friends at work to do the 10k Race for Life along Bournemouth Seafront. Being quite competitive there was no way I was going to either walk or come last! I downloaded an app for my Ipod which was supposed to take you from sitting on the couch to running 5k in 6 weeks and decided I was going to become a runner!!!!!
The first week it expected me to alternate jogging 60 seconds with walking 3 minutes. To say it was hard was an understatement and I struggled to jog for 30 seconds let alone 60. However, encouraged by my husband who decided to run with me I kept with it, gradually increasing each week until I managed to run the Race for Life 10k without stopping 3 months later! And only last week completed the 10 miles of the Great South Run without stopping!
A couple of months into my attempt to get healthy I saw an offer on Groupon for a 12 bootcamp sessions with Jango Health and Fitness. My husband and I decided to take the plunge and give it a try.
To be honest, we decided to just do the 12 sessions with Jango and then use what we’d learnt and join a gym!!!! Every session is different but always challenging. I enjoy catching up with people I would now call friends before the session (and during it while Jango isn’t looking!) and being pushed to achieve your best everytime keep me coming back for more!

I first meet Jango when I went to his spinning class which is really good and very hard but enjoyable at the same time. I wanted to lose weight so that I could start to feel better about myself I was fed up of not enjoying clothes shopping, going out and all the sort of things that you avoid doing because you just don't feel comfortable in your own body and after meeting him at spinning I thought he would be the perfect personal trainer for me, he is so full of energy and very good and what he does. I had my first training session with Jango in August 2010 and I have been having two a week ever since (now in Nov 2010) I have lost 1 stone and a total of 9.2 inches (wow I have impressed myself!), I have also noticed a big difference in my fitness levels, however when I start to get tired he is great and motivating me to carrying on. Each session is different and always enjoyable, I know you may be thinking that exercise is not enjoyable well if you are go and see Jango and you will change your mind. Jango has also really help me with my diet he advised me to keep a food diary which for me personal was a really good idea. I have told all my friends about him and would recommend anyone who wants to lose weight or just wants to get fit to go and see him. The before picture of me is a very very rare one of me in a skirt, I was on holiday with my boyfriend I knew I would not see anyone I knew and I also thought that I would never show anyone this picture but I don't mind you seeing this as I can see how I have changed. I have been slimming now for 5 years and have managed to do well, however over the last 12 months I have hit my Plato and my weight has pretty much stayed the same. I have been a member of a gym and was wearing myself out for hours on end and not getting results, and then I met Jango. He was teaching a body pump class when I asked for some advice.
