Afternoon people!
It’s been a while since I wrote a post on my blog so I thought it was time to shed some light on a few things, but, be warned I might get a bit aggressive on this topic so stop reading now if you are easily offended!
The reason I’ve been so quiet is for a number of reasons. I’ve moved out (finally) in to a flat that I’m renting in town, I’ve been very busy doing offline things that have been getting me out of the house because sitting in and working on the MAC was really starting to drain me and it wasn’t making me happy. So I thought it’s time for a change, so now you know.
We have a couple of new locations that will be starting very soon, which Natalie and Kate will be running so keep an eye out for those being launched. I’ve teamed up with local restaurants to provide you with guilt free menus for when you eat out, I launched my Double D Project (more on this very soon) and I’m working on creating the world’s No.1 residential fitness camp in Portugal at the Cascade Resort.
Some of you may remember that I put my pelvis out about 3 months ago which TOTALLY buggered up my back. So I’ve been out of action for quite some time now with NO exercise… apart from the odd squat, press and plank at camps.
Now I was nowhere near an athlete at the time but doing nothing due to injury was making me go mental. I couldn’t stop thinking about swimming, hitting the gym and just doing some exercise. I couldn’t help think all this hard work is going to be undone because of this damn injury. My body was screaming for exercise but my back just wouldn’t let me. After the 3rd week of nothing I noticed that urge to exercise had gone completely. I didn’t worry too much at the time until I was in my second month of zero exercise. I started to become lazy, cared less about my goals and started to make poor choices with food. I noticed myself saying ‘oh I’ll start eating better when my back gets better’ and it went on like this. By month three I was eating bread, chocolate, crisps, pasta, takeaways and I knew this was not good for me…. and let me tell you the effects of eating crap didn’t take long to kick in because I felt terrible, had no energy, even more lazy, so my work productivity went downhill BIG TIME. I started spending too much time sitting on my arse doing jack. Thinking about it, it was probably good at the time due to my back BUT it really didn’t help the mentality I was in.
Then I had a big drop kick - I needed to really turn things around before I really started to do some damage to my body.
I saw this on Facebook.
I back tracked the weeks and I realised how I’d got into this state originally. My bloody injury! I realised I was actually VERY, VERY low because of it, which let me slack, get lazy, frustrated and angry!
Eating crap just made it worse and really clouded my thinking and working on my projects became a chore!
So that was it!!
Never again, my mind set had shifted. When I realised what was going on in my head and body the anger disappeared. My eating improved, so did my energy, my drive and passion for what I do.
So let me ask you this?
When did you last eat a meal that’s a chemical shit store?? 10 minutes ago for lunch? Maybe you plan to have a takeaway tonight with a glass or bottle of wine tonight?
Did you watch the recent program called ‘The Men Who Made Us Fat’? It was a BIG eye opener for me and probably for everyone else that watched it.
If you are having problems with an injury, family or just life, don’t do what I did by making it a whole lot worse by eating shit.
Eat clean, eat fresh and keep your brain and body healthy!
The good news for me is that my back is on the mend and this short, low part of my life is behind me. Lesson learnt!!
Next time you think of eating shit, think about the effect it has on your mind and body.

Hi jango, I empathise with you completely. I was knocked off my bike almost 4 weeks ago, on my way back from the gym would you believe! Where my injury wasn’t ad serious as yours, a bad knee twist meant I was out of action, and I was so on track when it happened. I began maintaining my healthy diet but the frustration of going from being so active to doing zero exercise soon took his toil. I started munching bad things thinking ‘I’ll get back on track when I am active again’ but it’s the worst attitude to take as you end up feeling terrible! It van be a vicious cycle but it’s so important to stay on track diet wise so that when it able to get back on it you’re not starting way back again. I started exercise properly yesterday again and got back on the bike today and feel immense! Got some way to get back to where I was but I forgot the awesome feeling working out gives you so will rinse it soon enough! Nice to hear your back on track and sometimes the indestructible have a freak out every now and then but that it doesn’t last long and the power comes back stronger than ever.;)
