Bridal Fitness Boot Camp Bournemouth

If you are getting married and feeling a little too plump (or even a lot too plump) for your wedding dress then I’m sure the panic has already begun to set in.

Let’s face it ladies – you’ll only get married once (hopefully), your wedding dress will probably be the most expensive dress you’ll ever wear and your wedding photos will be around to haunt you forever if you look anything less than the fabulous blushing bride you’d always imagined!

Many of us want to lose weight or tone up to look our best for special occasions, but wedding fever is a whole different level of special, and most brides run themselves into the ground trying to find a quick fix solution. Brides spend a fortune on week retreat bridal boot camps, promising to make you lose half a stone (which you may put back on just over your hen weekend, or honeymoon!), and TV shows like ‘Bulging Brides’ promise to get that wedding dress zipped up and looking fab in 6 weeks.

I won’t lie – losing weight is hard, especially with the added pressure of a wedding looming. Quick fix solutions put even more pressure on you, don’t always work and you’ll really have to suffer to get the results you want. Not eating properly isn’t a practical solution, and could make you ill and weak (not a good look on your wedding day!). Think how long it takes to plan a wedding – you can be working towards you perfect bridal body for all that time too, rather than leaving fitting into your dream dress as an afterthought! If you sign up for boot camp now, you’ll be able to work towards that wedding perfection and achieve your goals, especially if your wedding is next summer. Why not enlist your bridesmaids too for moral support, encouragement (and to make sure they look lovely on your special day too).

The best thing about giving yourself time to lose the weight is that you can pace yourself, and therefore keep the weight off! I know brides who lost weight for their wedding through silly methods (like living on only 600kcal a day!) only to put all the weight back on whilst on honeymoon! (if getting slim for your wedding dress isn’t motivation enough for you, just think that you’ll also be wearing a bikini on honeymoon!). Just imagine going though all that torture, and then have your hard work only last for a few days!

I also know brides who didn’t diet. Some brides don’t need to diet as they already eat well and exercise. Some brides just don’t bother (they are the ones wearing tents instead of dresses…). You don’t want overhear comments on your big day about looking like a blancmange in your dress, and you don’t want to look back on your photos thinking ‘I wish I was slimmer’!

Now big grooms – don’t think I forgot about you! It always seems to be the bride that diets for their big day, but boys, you need to look good too! Men always seem to get away with all the organising and effort that goes into weddings, but if you at least put an effort into how you look on the day it will show that getting married is important to you too! You don’t want to send your bride running down the aisle (in the wrong direction), so you should take action now to make sure you are the dashing prince every groom should be on his wedding day! It’s rarely publicised that a man has dieted for a wedding; yet dieting for brides is a media money-maker. It does happen though, I know a groom who had to diet and work out like crazy to fit into his RAF dress uniform so he could look perfect for his bride! Again – the panic diet meant that the weight went back on. If he had given himself time to achieve his goal, he would have formed healthy lifestyle habits enabling him to stay at his goal weight, rather than a quick fix solution that can’t be maintained! It’s worth investing some time in how you look – especially if your bride is putting in the effort, you don’t want people thinking ‘what’s she marrying him for’! Also if she looks awesome on the wedding photos, she’ll want to show them to everyone and have them up on the walls to remind her, if you don’t look equally as awesome, those photos could haunt you forever too! Just like the bride needs moral support, you could enlist your best man and groomsmen too, or if you don’t mind getting sweaty together (and if you are getting married, your bride to be is probably used to you looking gross by now) brides and grooms can enlist in boot camp together, and motivate each other to lose weight for their big day. Doing the journey together makes you all the more likely to continue your healthy habits once you are married!
