Hey happy people in Bournemouth & Poole.
Do not read this if you are easily offended!
Ok so here it goes …. This has been boiling up inside me for a long time so I think it’s time to let off steam.
I really do hate it when I hear people discussing prices and comparing my service to your average gym and then say, “I can get unlimited gym membership for £40 to £50 a month.” Really?? Are you actually going to go?
Gyms are great places to go don’t get me wrong, BUT how much do you really achieve by going. You set up a standing order in good faith with intentions of going, but do you go enough to achieve real long lasting results?? Say you do and lose a few pounds but gain it back next month because you couldn’t be bothered to go as you soon lose the drive and motivation.
When you join any gym, they go through a nice induction, ask you what you want to achieve and then spend an hour or so showing you how to use the equipment and doing a plan that’s specific to what you want to achieve. Very nice, and for that first session and maybe for the first few after you’re pretty keen.
However, after a few weeks the novelty wears off, you go less and less or for shorter sessions and you find yourself making excuses not to go.
Now, unless you’re the most self-motivated person in the world (when I say self- motivated, I’m talking marine style motivation), then it’s the easiest thing for that little voice in your head to say, “I’ll go tomorrow”, or, “I’m too tired”, or, “blah, blah blah, excuse after excuse after excuse!” But you leave the membership direct debit active…..just in case! A few months go by, which then turns into several months, and before you know it you’re several quid out of pocket! Yes, you may have been again for the odd session, but my point is that the initial enthusiasm wore off pretty quickly and thus that odd session has turned out to be damned expensive. Now the reason you left the direct debit in place was purely psychological in the first place (just to make you feel better) convincing yourself that you’re a member of a gym – “YEAH!”, giving you that nice warm fuzzy feel-good factor….which is great if that’s all you want, but a warm shower will have the same effect, or I could suggest some DVD’s to watch – both will cost you an awful lot less as well!) – and, those crafty gym membership people know that as well!
Face the facts and look at the big picture. Instead of wasting your hard earned cash on gyms that get you little to no results you could spend it on a proven system that guarantees you results. Say you spend £45 a month on your gym membership for 12 months, so that’s £540. Now instead of gaining weight every month how about losing between 2 – 4 stone in ONLY 5 ½ months???!! Doesn’t that sound AMAZING to your ears??? Your hard earned cash hasn’t gone to some pointless gym membership.
Read this article about your average bloke paying for a gym membership. He paid £50 a month for a gym totalling £600 for pool sauna, gym, squash courts, you name it this place had it. Guess how many times he went in 1 year? Once for a swim. So he paid £600 just to go for a swim and he didn’t even get his own swimming lane and a towel after he finished. What a waste!!
Your typical gym doesn’t have on going motivation from the trainers (ok… some might do for the first few weeks)
Little or no nutritional support
No accountability for when you don’t show up
Training is out of date and BORING!!
And they CANNOT guarantee you results
Look around the gym and you will probably see a lot of the same people in there most weeks. Take a look at their figure, have they lost weight? Have they changed shape?
They mostly do that same workout every week. Same amount of sets, reps and intensity.
Basically gyms make you fat!
Next time you think about signing up to any gym or weight loss program, think. Is this really going to get me sustainable fat loss results or is it going to make me fatter?
Make the right choice and don’t grow out of your wardrobe!

Jango
While I agree that a gym is not the place for the unmotivated & I know from experience how good your classes are Jango, if my instructor in the gym goes on holiday or is unwell the class still happens! Probably difficult for you to do but maybe worth thinking about?!!
Got it covered. Employing someone new year
Good news!
