BOO!
Happy Halloween… Please don’t ask me for
a trick or treat.
I’m not the best at tricks so read on and find
out what treat I’ve got for you in this email.
It seems that I do talk some sense because
of the response I got from my willpower email.
So thank you to those that did respond, it
wasn’t hard to hit reply was it?
Today, I’m going to mess with your heads
even more!
Are you ready for it?
On Tuesday I talked to you about how
you can prevent the fight with willpower.
Which was by eating REAL food so your body
doesn’t feel hungry every hour of every day.
Eating foods that fit our genetic make-up.
Today, you are going to give yourself permission
to eat junk.
Not because it’s Halloween but because it
will help you avoid temptation.
A permission giver (this is you and me)
helps us to justify what we’re about to
put into our mouth and makes us feel
justified in doing so.
A permission giving thought that isn’t
in line with your goals and what you
want your outcome to be is just a nuisance
and is usually irrational and based on no
logical reasoning.
“But it’s sort of like an excuse right Jango?”
Not so much.
Permission giving thoughts are not excuses.
An excuse is a reason for an action and
usually something we offer up after we’ve
done something that we then wish to justify.
A permission giver is a thought that
occurs prior to the action which then
influences whether the action is undertaken
or not.
***Some examples are***
Just one won’t hurt
It’s only little
I deserve a reward
It’s ok, Monday is only 2 days away, I’ll
start then
It won’t make any difference, I’m sure
If I don’t write it on my food diary it
never happened
Broken biscuits don’t have as many calories
I’ll just have a sip
Just once more and then not again
I’ll be too grumpy to deal with the kids
if I don’t treat myself.
———————————————
When you take action and start eating real
food and you’re not constantly feeling hungry,
when a permission giving thought pops into
your head…
Stop for a few seconds and create another thought
that stops yours from acting.
Like this…
You’ve made the thought and you’ve picked the crisps
“I deserve this bag of crisps because I worked hard
all day”.
Let’s challenge this with, “I’ve worked hard all day,
I deserve a long soak in the bath with the
phone off the hook, the crisps simply can’t compete”.
Just say “no, I’m better off without you.”
“I’ve got a fun journey to my end goal and
you won’t be helping”
Simple and very effective!
